Is Hemp Oil the same as CBD Oil?

Hemp Oil vs CBD Oil

What is CBD Oil?

CBD oil, is an oil supplement that is infused with CBD extracted from cannabis plants. Cannabidiol(CBD) belongs to a group of chemicals called cannabinoids which are most abundantly found in cannabis plants. CBD is considered to be very therapeutic and various preclinical trials have shown some promising results as far as CBD is concerned and the results show that CBD could potentially be used to treat a wide range of ailments  such as pain, anxiety, and insomnia. The effects of CBD are usually described as relaxing and calming with a clear headed effect although CBD is not psychoactive so you will not get “high”. CBD oil can be taken sublingually, orally, or even rubbed into the skin making it an easy option for everyone

What is Hemp Oil?

Hemp oil is the fatty acids and nutrients extracted from hemp seeds which usually contains high nutritional value and natural vitamins and antioxidants. Although it is said to have potential health benefits, it does not contain cannabinoids and therefore does not provide the same stimulation with the endocannabinoid system that CBD oil does and therefor does not have the same health benefits. Besides its nutritional uses, Hemp seed oil is also used for lubricants, paints, plastics, fuel and more!

Hemp Oil vs. CBD Oil

On one hand, we have CBD oil which consists of cannabinoids from the leaves and stalks of the hemp plant. On the other hand, we have hemp oil, which comes from pressing the seeds with immense force. Hemp oil does not  have the medicinal properties that CBD oil has, as its created from the seeds which do not have cannabinoids. While there are health benefits tied to the nutritional value of hempseed oil, there are no precise related medical benefits. There is no research showing that hemp oil, for example, helps with epilepsy while CBD, on the other hand, is known for it. In the end, they really are two completely different things despite the fact that they come from very similar plants and are commonly misconceived.

What is the Hemp Plant?

Hemp, is Cannabis Sativa that does not produce more than 0.3% THC. When THC levels are this low, it is classified as industrial hemp. For thousands of years, hemp has been used in the textile industry and still is today! Products made from hemp, while not as widely available as one would like, is still making a comeback today despite its precarious legal status.

Conclusion

CBD oil and Hemp seed Oil, both extracts from variants of the cannabis plant, provide a wide range of benefits to the human body when consumed in some form or another, however, these types of benefits differ when one looks at the details. CBD, on one hand, has great medicinal potential, while Hemp seed oil, on the other hand, is more for the nutritional benefits. So its easy to see where the difference lay. If you’re looking for a supplement to your body or nutrition, hemp seed oil is a wonderful option, but if you’re more looking for to relieve pain or clear your mind and relax, you are going to want to stick with CBD oil.
